PVT US Army
WORLD WAR II
The only child of Lowe and Lucille (Midge) Halstead passed away in Tangerhutte, Germany in an accident on May 13, 1945. Prior to entering the Army, Robert lived in Clovis for some 18 months. Robert was born October 25, 1920 in Springfield, MO. Although we have very little other information on Robert Halstead's life, he was married at one time and had a son, Howard, and a daughter, Vickie of Kansas City. He was survived by his mother, Midge Benner and stepfather, R. D. Benner, a railroader in Clovis.
Robert's body was shipped to Clovis on Jan. 13, 1949 and reburied the next day.
Added by volunteer:
He survived World War II and was still in Europe after the war. He met an untimely and unfortunate death when he was accidentally crushed between two army trucks. He was deeply missed by his family.
