A Kansas City area man was discovered Friday morning along U.S. 50 in Lee's Summit.
Police think he was killed during the overnight hours while crossing the highway near the Obrien Road overpass. Skid marks were found in the area.
A passerby spotted Bowman's body about 7:15 a.m. once the sun began to rise. His body was in a grassy area on the north side of the westbound lanes.
Cody Aaron Bowman, 21, of Lee's Summit, was born Saturday, September 29, 1990 in Talladega, Alabama. He departed this life Friday, November 18, 2011 in Lee's Summit as a result of injuries sustained in an accident.
Cody attended Lee's Summit North High School and was currently employed as a landscaper for Extreme Lawn and Landscaping of Desoto, Kansas.
He was a wonderful son, great brother, amazing cousin and special friend whose laughter and smile will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his mother and step father Linda Modrak and Jon Scheloski of Lee's Summit; two brothers Brandon Modrak of Lee's Summit, and James (and Jennifer) Bowman of Talladega; one sister Amanda Bowman of Talladega; maternal grandfather Gayle Baker of Lee's Summit; maternal grandmother Clara Baker of Blue Springs; paternal grandmother Margaret Bowman of Talladega; many aunts, uncles, cousins; relatives and many friends.
A celebration of Cody's life will be held on Saturday, November 26th, 2011. Reverend D. Kent Deubner of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church will officiate.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
