According to Indiana State Police Detective Tony Frawley, 22 year old Shane Golitko approached Anderson from behind, stabbing him with a 12 inch knife without provocation. Golitko then returned to his home where he had earlier assaulted his mother, breaking her arm, and stabbed his two dogs, killing one of them. He fled in his mother's Jeep, leading police on an eight mile chase before he was arrested.

Arthur Lee Anderson, 76, Kokomo, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011. Art was born in Chicago, Ill., on June 18, 1935, to Albert Arthur and Merle (Davis) Anderson.

He received his BS and MSEE from the University of Illinois and later a Master of Business from Purdue University. He was inducted into the Illini Media Hall of Fame at the University of Illinois. Art worked for General Motors for 23 years and later became a consulting engineer. His major clients were Functional Devices and MFRI.

Art was an active member of Temple B'nai Israel, serving as president and treasurer. His involvement with the Boy Scouts spanned 60 years. He was currently with Troop 506. He also mentored the Kokomo High School TechnoKats FIRST robotics team.

Art is survived by his wife, Bette Simon Anderson; son, Alan (Carol) Anderson, Kokomo; daughters, Janice (Arnie) Levitan, Skokie, and Sandra (Craig) Gruber, Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Corey, Jacob, Sarah, Hannah and Ari; and brother, James (Amy) Anderson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 N. Michigan Road. Burial will follow in Indianapolis Hebrew Cemetery North.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Temple B'nai Israel of Kokomo.
