Canadian, Texas lost one of its best loved citizens Sunday with the death of J.C. Killebrew. Mr. Killebrew had been in ill health for the past several months,

Born at Baxter Springs, Kansas, May 28, 1860, he married Saluda C. Ely, September 14, 1882. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary just ten days before he passed away.

Coming to Canadian in 1906, Mr. Killebrew served as a city official for more than twenty-three years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons: James and Elvis, of Canadian; Fred, of Arnett; and Jack, of Houston; by five daughters: Mrs. Virgil Harrison of Hodgens, Oklahoma; Mrs. L.A. Reed of Pampa; Mrs. W.E. Downs, of Wichita; Mrs. Ben O'Fallen, of Houston; and Mrs. Virgil Taylor, of Wink, Texas; by one brother, James L., of Breckenridge, Texas; by one sister; Mrs. J.W. Norton, of Jacksboro, Texas; and by 29 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday, with the Reverend D.L. McCree, officiating.
