Arthur F. Fisher
Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2006. Arthur F. Fisher passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, May 24, 2006, following a brief battle with brain cancer. He was born in Huron, South Dakota, November 17, 1929, where he graduated from Huron High School. He entered the U.S. Army serving as a Special Agent, Counter-Intelligence Corps stationed in Germany. Following the military, he graduated from the University of Wyoming Law School and began his career in law. Art first served as a Deputy Attorney General in Cheyenne, Wyoming. During this time he met his wife, Marilyn, who was an airline stewardess for United Airlines. It was love at first sight and within a year they were married. They soon moved to Casper, Wyoming where he joined the Law Firm of Robert R. Rose, Jr. After several years with the firm, he opened his own private practice. In 1965, the family moved to California, Art studied and passed the California Bar Exam and moved to Bakersfield where he became a Deputy District Attorney for Kern County. After two years, he joined the Law Firm of David Goldberg and became a partner with Goldberg, Fisher, Randall & Quirk. In recent years, he was a sole practitioner specializing in workers' compensation, and business law. A warm and caring man of strong character and integrity in every area of his life, he held the highest regard for his profession and the needs of his clients. Art enjoyed playing tennis, walking, dancing, gardening and maintaining the home. He also enjoyed pheasant and duck hunting, occasional travel, and volunteering for the Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Fisher; parents, Carl and Margaret Fisher; brother, William Fisher. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of 49 years; son, David, daughter-in-law, Ruth, and granddaughter, Angela Fisher of Gig Harbor, WA; daughter, Diana and son-in-law, Andy Swan, Valencia, CA; daughter, Nancy Escobar; grandchildren, Amanda, Andrea, Jordan Escobar, Joshua Eckroth, Shannon Eckroth Florez, son-in-law, Victor, Bakersfield; 3 great-grandchildren of Bakersfield; and sister, Betty Swope, Huron, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens. Arthur F.
