Richard Milton Keenan of Willowbrook Road, Cromwell, formerly of Portland, died Tuesday at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was 70.
Mr. Keenan lived in Portland for most of his life before moving to Cromwell in 1992. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Before retiring in 1987, he worked for the D. Arrigoni Construction Co. for 20 years, and for the town of Portland and the Connecticut Valley Hospital maintenance department. After retiring, he worked as a student escort for the Nicholas Bus Co. for seven years.
He was a member of First Congregational Church of Portland and the Portland Historical Society.
Mr. Keenan was a 49-year member of the Portland Volunteer Fire Department's Company No. 2.
Besides his wife, Violet D. Keenan, he is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Keenan-Nenninger of Cromwell and Bonnie Lee Keenan-Roybal of Middlefield.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main St., Portland. The Rev. Mark Dunn Sr. will preside and burial will follow in Center Cemetery in Portland.
