He died May 7, 1886 Taylorsville Iowa, and was buried in Grandview Cemetery. Adam had several brothers and sisters; David, John, Christopher, Christina, Mary/Martha/Matty, Jacob, and Daniel. The Fortney's moved from Trumbull Co. Ohio about 1855/56; Adam and (nephew?) Benjamin (Benjamin on 1856 Iowa census) to Iowa; Jacob his brother across the Mississippi river, in Crawford County Wisconsin; Christopher with their mother (and father?) moved with the Swartz families to Wood/Henry county's Ohio; while the two sisters stayed in Trumbull.
