There are two obituaries. One published in the Charleston Daily Mail on March 1, 1977, shows her buried in Tate cemetery. The other one published in the Charleston Gazette on March 2, 1977 shows Virgie buried in Spring Hill Cemetery. The one published on March 2 was probably a correction.
The obituary gives her mothers name as Mamie Howard which is incorrect. Her mother was actually Alice Dove Moore, the first wife of William R. McCutcheon Sr. Alice died in June 1919, 6 years after the birth of Virgie. William then married the widow, Mamie Galena (Shaffer)Fore in December 1919. After the death of William, Mamie married Romie Howard in 1931. Mamie is probably named as Virgie;s mother because she was the only mother she ever really knew.
