Capt Joseph C Adams served in the 34th US Infantry during the War of 1812. He applied for a bounty land grant under the act of 1850. I have a copy of his application which is 23 pages of very interesting information. He lived in Bloomfield (now Skowhegan) after the war until his death. Before that, he lived in Bangor, ME. He was a merchant, saddler, and then he made shoes. His parents were Joshua Adams and Hannah Whitney. His siblings were Lucy Adams Jewett, Isaac Adams, and Benjamin Adams.
