Doyle, the son of Doyle C. Anderson and Audia F. Anderson of Arlington WA enlisted in the US Marine Corps on October 18, 1966 in Seattle WA. He arrived in Vietnam on September 12 1967 and was assigned for duty to HQ Company, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.
At approximately 0030H in the early morning hours on June 29, 1968 the security perimeter of the Regimental CP on Hill 55 in the Dien Ban District of Quang Nam Province was attacked by an enemy force utilizing mortars and B-40 RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenades)killing one and wounding two Marines.
One of the casualties was PFC Anderson who was evacuated to the NSA Station Hospital in Da Nang where he died as a result of multi fragmentation wounds.
