obituary: Carroll Times, April 11, 1918
Mrs Richard L Wolfe passed away at the hospital at 5:30 Sunday afternoon after being in poor health for the past two years and in a weakened condition for several months. Her illness began with rheumatism, her whole system being poisoned.

Last summer she made a trip to Rochester and had her tonsils removed with the hope that she would be better, but her illness was of too long standing and although she seemed better for a short time, she did not have the vitality to build up and gradually failed. For the past two months she has been under treatment at the hospital in this city and it has been known for some time that she had no chances of recovery.

She was a highly educated and refined woman and when in good health enjoyed nothing more than to look after her home and be with her friends. Mrs Wolfe, whose maiden name was Miss Mary Fanning, was born in Ottawa, Illinois, December 1, 1852, and married at that place to Richard L Wolfe in 1870. Two children were born to this union, Richard who is now deceased and Irene, at home. Mr Wolfe passed away in this city fourteen years ago last June. The Wolfes have made this home in Carroll some twenty years and are among its' best and most highly respected citizens.

Funeral services were held from the St Lawrence Church at 10 o'clockTuesday morning and burial will be made at Ottawa, Illinois. Miss Irene was accompanied on her sad trip by Miss Anna Wolfe and William Collison.

Note from FAG volunteer, 9-17-2011:
I searched the stated plot or section and could not find the grave. Met the caretaker while at the cemetery and he showed me where the grave should have been. It is located next to the Sisters' marker in the older section of the graveyard, but the stones there are worn or are nothing more than field markers. Also, there are approx. 8 stones in high grassy areas. I will look again when I have my steel-toed boots with me.
