Harry M. Allen of Hooks, Texas entered into rest on August 10, 2011 after a sudden illness.

He was born on June 27, 1943 in Akron, Ohio.

Harry served his country proudly in the United States Army for 10 years including two tours in Germany and one tour in Vietnam. Upon retirement from the military he was employed at Red River Army Depot for 35 years during which time he also served as a civilian volunteer for 6 months in Iraq during Desert Storm.

He loved spending time with his family and friends and was an avid bowler, accomplishing numerous perfect 300 games. Harry was a member of Oak Grove Golf Course, where he played regularly and had experienced his first hole-in-one on Nov. 19, 2010. He also loved his hobby of wood working and was a big fan of baseball.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Rosie Lee Allen, in-laws, Milton and Violet Hignight and chosen daughter, Cindy Son.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 46 years, Delma Anne Allen, chosen daughters, Terri Medaries and husband, Dub of Shreveport, LA, Sharon Harrison and husband, Darrow of Wake Village, TX, Shelia Brady and husband, Scott of Great Falls, MT, son-in-law, Danny Son of Dekalb, TX; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and anticipated arrival of great grandchild number 6 and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hurley and the CICU Staff at Christus St. Michael Health System for their compassionate care of their loved one.

Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2011 at Everett Baptist Church with Rev. Michael King officiating. Burial will be in Everett Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home – Moores Lane.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2011 at East Funeral Home – Moores Lane.
