ODESSA - Melvin Dall "Mac" McAllister, 85, died Friday, May 30, 2008.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Harrison and Jason McAllister officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Shamrock Cemetery.
Mr. McAllister was born Dec. 16, 1922, in Garden Valley Childress to Jim O. and Minnie E. McAllister. He married Doris Beasley on Nov. 26, 1990. In 1983, he retired from Dow Chemical Company after 32 years of service.
Mac never met a stranger and always had a big smile on his face. He was also a World War II veteran serving in the Asian Pacific Theater. He loved gardening, farming, ranching, his family and his dog "Annie."

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie Exum McAllister; his parents; two brothers, Curtis McAllister and Calvin McAllister; and a sister, Lillian Shirley.
Survivors include his wife; two sons Mike McAllister of Canyon and Robert McAllister and wife Sae of Shamrock; four grandchildren, Brad and Jason McAllister and Amy and Katie McAllister; three great-grandchildren, Garrett and Maddyson McAllister and Ayden Chris; four stepdaughters, Billie Cochran of Gilmer, Linda Harrison and Debra Halbert of Odessa, Becky McElroy of Humble, Bobbie Warren of Wales England; and their husbands and children; ten grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
