BOND -- Jack, 86, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 19, 2007, in Tulsa, OK, after succumbing to terminal pulmonary disease. Jack was born in Cleora, OK, on April 16, 1920, to William Penn Bond and Lillie M. (Herrod) Bond. Tack was raised in Vinita, OK, but resided in Tulsa for most of his life. Jack was a man of great wisdom and numerous talents. He deeply affected the lives of all who knew him. His accomplishments during his journey of life, included: beekeeper, electrician, avid gardener, and butcher. He was a meat cutter for 61 years, with 38 of those years spent at H & E Grocery, where he was known as "Jack the Butcher." Jack was a World War II Veteran in the U.S. Navy Submarines in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. One of his greatest passions, however, was helping veterans - his fellow comrades. He was a life member of VFW Post 577, where he volunteered countless hours of his time. Jack served as Vice Commander, Commander and Past Commander, and Commander of the Military Order of the Cooties (MOC) Pup Tent 5. He helped perform Military Rites detail until December, 2003, when his illness began. Jack's endless commitment to all veterans will never be forgotten. Aside from his volunteer work, Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jack was preceded in death by: his parents; his loving wife, Velma Bond; sister, Betty Schmid; and 2 sons, Jackie Baker and James Stephen Bond. He is survived by: his wife, Marla Jo of the home; brother, Curtis Bond, Bakersfield, CA; 1 son, Leslie "Buddy" (Barbara) Bond; 1 daughter, Patricia
(Alan) Scott-Ozment; 1 step-son, J. Brent (Lara) Crafton; 1 step-daughter, Jaii Lienne (Davin) Rickard; 4 grandsons, Daniel (Kelly) Scott, Jason Bond, Ryan Bond and James Bond; 1 granddaughter, Jamie (Ryan) O'Neil-Deason; 2 great-grandsons, Tyler O'Neil and Alexander Scott; 6 step-grandsons, Christopher and Joshua Rickard, Tristan Flanagan, and Dylan, Colton and Hayden Crafton; 3 step-granddaughters, Michaela Crafton and Cheyenne and Nevaeh Grace Rickard; his mother-in-law, Leiva Ratliff; his very best friend, Paul Nicewander; and a multitude of cherished friends. Family will greet friends and visitors from 6 - 8 p.m., Thursday evening, February 21, at Moore's Southlawn. Service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, February 23, at Moore Southlawn Chapel, immediately followed by Graveside service at Green Acres Memorial Garden.
