Came from Wuertemberg to America 1749 on Chesterfield. Arrived 2 Sep 1749.
We find him going to the St Michaels and Zion Luthern Church in Philadelphia and the Dreisbach Church.

From "Pennsylvania German Folklore Society" . " Johann Jacob Metzger was born 1 Feb 1714/15 in Steinenbronn, Wurtemberg, Germany. He married Barbara Dast 19 September 1741 in Steinbonn, Wurtenburg, Germany. They had a son Jacob who was born 10 January 1746/7 in Steinenbronn, Wurtemburg, Germany. Johann Jacob Metzger and his wife and 4 year old son, arrived in Pennsylvania on the ship "Chesterfield" 2 September 1749.

The younger Jacob is only about 3 years old and it means that Barbara had to die right after arriving in America.
providing this is ours but it appears to be. The marriage is 4 months after their arrival in America.
In the Dreisbach Church Northumberland Co, Jacob Metzger and Anna Maria Appolonia are Baptismal witnesses to one of George Buch's children. Church is now in Lewisburg, Union Co, Pa. I believe that Jacobs son Jacob married one of Geroge Buch's children Mary.
Family Story goes, Jacob was in the Revolution with Washington?? He was an Indian Spy during the Revolution

"Jacob G Metzger, one of the intelligent, liberal Minded farmers of Green Creek township, Sadusky county, enjoys the possession of competency, and he believes the statement made by Gen Washington, that agriculture is the noblest vocation of Man. He lives in ease and comfort upon his well tilled and well cared for farm of 127 acres, made profitable by his good business ability and his inherited aptitude for a farming life.
Mr Metzger was born in Adams Township, Seneca county, Nov 2 1842, son of Samuel and Rebecca (Heltzel) Metzger. The great-great-grandfather of Mr Metzger who was a Revolutionary soldier under Gen Washington( was the son of Archibald Metzger twin brother of General Theodore Metzger, an able officer in the German Army.)(this last part wrong)
Jacob Metzger born 1714/15 Germany was the immigrant and his son Jacob was in the revolution and a only child.) The Revolutionary soldier was lost in the woods of Pennsylvania and probably starved to death.. His remains were afterward found and identified by means of gun and clothing. ( they are talking about about this Jacob) He had emigrated from Germany to America in Colonial Times and his son, the great grandfather of Jacob was the only child aboard the ship that escaped the fatal ravages of small pox. The son of this fortunate child, Jacob Metzger by name, grandfather of the subject of this sketch was born in Pennsylvania and acquired the trade of shoemaker. He was a member of the United Brethern Church, and in the autumn of 1813 migrated with his family from Union county Penn., to Pickaway County Ohion, settling on a farm near Circleville.
