Parents: Joseph L Gibson born about 1873 in Texas and Ola Gertrude Lankford born in 1884 in Fayetteville, Arkansas and died in 1908 in Artesia, New Mexico

Brother of Hollie Raymond Gibson and Lola Gibson

Arch was my grandmother's second husband...they were married after her first husband left her during the depression with 4 kids to raise...Arch's brother Ray was married to my great aunt Ellen Abdill Hughs so, through them he met my grandmother, Elizabeth Mae Hughs Beckwith...they fell in love and were married soon after....to Elizabeth's children he was "Daddy"...and he loved them back...he was a kind and loving soul...soft spoken, loved kids though he never had any of his own, worried about us all..I remember once when I was at his home there was a picture of a beautiful woman on his dresser...she was wearing a high-collared dress with puffed sleeves and her hair piled on top of her head..sort of like a Gibson Girl...I asked him who it was...he said it was his Mother and that she had been a school teacher but, died young...I didn't know until I started researching my genealogy that she had died when he was 2 years old...yet he still had her picture on his dresser..he adored my Grandma and when she died at 49 years of age he was devastated...by this time his sister-in-law Ellen was divorced from his brother and after a time he married Ellen...She so looked like my grandmother..they were married until his death from a fall down the stairs of an office building....he's the only maternal Grandpa I knew and I loved him...he was always smiling or telling a joke...would take us out in the yard to see his chickens and tell us what breed each and everyone of them was...just a truly lovely man and one who is still dearly missed...love you Grandpa
