Frieda Hazel Colvin, Lafayette Girl, Dies of Heart Affection

Miss Frieda Hazel Colvin, daughter of George and Della Colvin, passed away at the family home, 1114 North Twelfth street, at 12:35 o'clock Monday morning. She had been ill for 12 weeks with heart trouble.

Miss Colvin was born March 21, 1907, in Brookston, and attended the public schools there. She was graduated from Brookston High School in 1925, and came to Lafayette with her parents shortly after. Recently she was employed at the Warren Paper Products company plant. She was a member of the First Christian church, and Ruth circle, Loyal Daughters; and was a social member of W.B.A., No. 16.

Besides her parents, she is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Stiles Jeffries, Lafayette Rural Route J; Mrs. Robert Williamson of Tifflin, O., and Georgia, Kathryn, Ralph and Ernest, at home; also her aged grandfather, John Wolf, of Mount Ayr. Funeral services will be conducted from the home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. J.N. Jessup, pastor of the Christian church will officiate. Burial will be in the Brookston cemetery. Friends may view the body at the residence, it was announced, after 7 p.m. Monday.

Colvin Funeral

Funeral services for Miss Frieda Hazel Colvin were conducted on Wednesday afternoon from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Colvin, 1114 North Twelfth Street. Rev. J. Newton Jessup, of the First Christian Church, officiated; burial in the cemetery at Brookston. The pallbearers were W.B.A. No. 16 girls' club, as follows: Miss Bessie Davis, Miss Helen Southard, Miss Martha Caster, Miss Dorothy Taylor, Mrs. Blanche Finley and Mrs. Lois Fawley. The tribute bearers, from the Warren Paper Products Company, were the Misses May Leaming, Lucille Schrader, Zella Witham and Lula Edmonds.


NOTE: At this time, it is unknown if there is a headstone or not. The ground in this cemetery is very soft and many stones are sinking or are already underground. Slowly and thoroughly, the cemetery is being probed for these stones. The Colvin plot has yet to be probed.
