Rocky Barton was a convicted murderer on Death Row. He was the son of Wilma and Donald Barton, the oldest of four siblings, had two sisters and one brother. He dropped out of High School in his senior year in 1974. He was married four times. Among his various jobs, he worked as a Construction Laborer and a Horse Trainer. He had one child with his first wife, his 31 year old son. For many years was out of his life, nor did he help towards his support. Though they became close later on. Rocky murdered his fourth wife, Kimbirli Jo Barton, she was 44. He killed her at their farm house in Waynesville, Ohio on January 16th, 2003. They were seperated at the time, he had called Kimbirli several times the day of the killing, threatening her, and told her to come to the home to get the rest of her things. He was easily angered and was known to be violent towards women. When Kimbirli appeared at the home, he appeared, they argued, he had a shotgun and shot her in the shoulder, not wanting her to leave him. He then shot her again at close range, in the back. His Uncle and her 17 year old daughter witnessed the shooting. Barton then shot himself in the chin with an upward blast, leaving a scar below his ear. He survived his suicide attempt. His third wife he had beat with his shotgun, stabbed her three times, cut her throat, left her for dead. She survived the brutal attack, he did some prison time for that. Kimbirli had known Rocky for many years, she was married, but got divorced, she married Rocky just two years before her death, while he was in Prison in Kentucky, for the last attack. Barton had a history of arrests for burglary, assault, drug and D.U.I. charges, and Domestic Abuse towards women. Rocky's last requested meal was: Pork Chops, Potatoes, Biscuits and Gravy, Fried Eggs Over Easy, Cherry Pie, and a Caffeine-Free Soft Drink. His last words were: "I'm sorry for what I done. I'm sorry for killing your mama. I'm not asking you to forgive me. Not a day goes by that I'm not trying to forgive myself. Don't let your anger and hate for me, destroy your lives. I'm sorry mom and dad, for the embarrassment and shame I brought you and my family. As Gary Gilmore said, Let's do it." He died by Lethal Injection at age 49, two weeks before his 50th Birthday. He was survived by his parents, siblings, and son.
