Marjory A. Green was born on May 21, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan. She was born to John & Harrietta (Maesh) Green.
On July 24, 1948, Margie married Barney Koper in St. Juliana Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan.
Margie & Barney had two sons, Wayne (Jeri) & Keith (Roma).
Auntie Margie & Uncle Barney were the owners & they operated Koper's Bar in Fairgrove, Tuscola County, Michigan.
I used to love to visit Uncle Barney & Auntie Margie. They were always so good to me. There was always a lot of laughter when we would visit.
Auntie Margie was a very petite woman.
She wasn't a sit at home type.
She worked for National Machine, like a lot of the Koper siblings & spouses did at the time.
She successfully ran the bar after Uncle Barney's death in 1984, until her death. The last day the bar was open was the day of her wake.
She was the beloved Grandmother of Sara, Shelby, & Misty.
My Mom & Dad were very angry at, & my Mom has never forgiven, Bill Clinton for making us miss Auntie Margie's funeral service. He was President at the time & even though we had ample traveling time, his motorcade held up traffic. We made it for the very end.
It might be a silly story to some but it was important to my parents then. Even today, if you mention my Aunt's funeral, the 1st thing Mom will say is, "That damn, Bill Clinton made us miss her Funeral Mass!"
Just one of those family stories.:-)
