Walter was the son of Daisaku Watanuki and Rakku Watanuki, husband of Umeko (Ume) Watanuki.

Mitsugoro W. Watanuki
Mitsugoro Walter Watanuki, 61, 349-6th Ave., died at his residence Sunday at 7:30 a.m. after a lingering illness.
Son of Daisaku and Rakku Watanuki, he was born Aug 1, 1886, in Gunma-Ken, Japan. He came to the United States in February 1906, and had resided in Tooele and Salt Lake counties since.
He married Ume Watanuki April 14, 1914 in San Francisco. He was graduated from the old Salt Lake high school and attended the University of Utah. He was employed by United States Smelting, Refining, and Mining Co. at Tooele and Midvale more than 25 years.
Mr Watanuki was active in civic and community affairs.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons and two daughters. Isamu Watanuki, Salt Lake City; Masashi Watanuki, San Mateo, Cal; Mrs. Tomoko Yano, Salt Lake City; and Reiko Watanuki, Midvale; a brother, Tsuneo Watanuki, Gunma-Ken, Japan; and four grandchildren.
Wake services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. at 125 N. Main, Salt Lake City and funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the same address. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City cemetery.
