Chadwin Jones Burbidge 1917 ~ 2005

Chadwin J. Burbidge, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at his residence in Tooele, Utah. He was born December 29, 1917 in Kamas, Utah, the son of Anthon and Selena Burbidge.

Chad grew up in Murray. Attended Granite Junior High and High School, attended two years at the University of Utah and later at-tended Utah State University. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California. On October 7, 1941 he married Norma Dunford. The couple had six children and lived in various locations in Utah, Idaho and Washington. Chad served as a captain in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Australia and the South Pacific. He had a varied and successful professional life. He was a dairy farmer; automobile and farm implement salesman, life insurance salesman and church custodian. He always made a positive impact on people. He was one to help when help was needed. He enjoyed singing and playing the banjo. He liked to work in the yard and garden. He was a builder and a con-tractor. He was a hard worker and used to say, "There's no fun like work". He served as Bishop in Tacoma and Elma, Washington.

Chadwin was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Donna and brother, Anthony Keith Burbidge; Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Norma Burbidge, sister Corris Gehring, brother Richard Burbidge, three sons and spouses include Norwin and Karen Burbidge of Tumwater, WA, Lyle and Denise Burbidge of Manchester, WA and Arlin and Cindy Bur-bidge of McCleary, WA. Three daughters and spouses, Tom and Sheridan Stinebaugh of Moscow, ID, Len and Laura Williams of Solon, OH and Rick and Raegan Ricks of Stans-bury Park, UT. He had 31 grandchil-dren and 32 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Monday, January 17, 2005 at the LDS church in Elma, Washington beginning at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Friends are invited to sign the on-line guest book at www.whitesidefamilymortuaries.com. Internment will be at the New Tacoma Cemetery in Tacoma, Washington.
