Born and raised in Stoughton, Mr. Anderson graduated from Stoughton High School and was a longtime resident. He also attended the New England Conservatory of Music.
A veteran, he was honorably discharged with the rank of private first class.
He worked as a lastmaker for the former Belcher Last Co. in Stoughton.
He served as a member of the IOOF, the Stoughton Historical and Musical societies and the Appalachian Mountain Club. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Stoughton, he played the organ and was a caretaker at the church for many years.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his grandniece Cheryl Gill of Albany, N.H.; two nephews, Richard Beal of Easton and Frank Beal of New York.
A funeral service was held yesterday at the Sheehan Funeral Home, Stoughton.
