OBITUARY: Elton Andrew Hartley, 91, passed away May 6, 1997, at his home. Born March 25, 1906, in Provo, Utah, to Andrew Hartley and Hannah Wadsworth Hartley. Married Bernice Daybell on April 11, 1929, in Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Retired after 41 years with Utah Power & Light; manager for 11 years at Gasamat service stations; worked 12 years at McDonalds in Woods Cross.

Active member of LDS Church, served in Omaha, Nebraska Mission and two stake missions. Genealogist for George Hartley Family Organization for 65 years.

Survived by wife; children: Verda LaVon Mason, Salt Lake City; Elton Ralph (Dee) Hartley, Magna; Nadine Madison, Salt Lake; and Lola Jean Schafer Barrett, Murray; 15 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren and five great- great- grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents; son, Don Carlos; brothers, Cyril, Harold and Elwood; sisters, Mary, Elma, Ivy and Berniece; granddaughters, Rebecca Barrett, Jaime Schafer and great-grandson, Travis McCuaig. Funeral services were held on Saturday May 10, 1997 in North Salt Lake. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. [Deseret News, Thursday, May 8, 1997.]
