Wilma Lee Parmley, 87, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:05 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at her home. She was born May 5, 1923 in Granite City, the daughter of the late Chester and Ethel (Ferguson) Lambert. She married Charles A. Parmley on August 21, 1943 in Americus, Georgia and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1994. She retired as a dental assistant with over 20 years of dedicated service with Dr. Vickers, Dr. Jaimet and Dr. Trtanj. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Granite City and was past member of the Elkettes. Wilma enjoyed supporting many organizations and charities and her times playing dominoes and cards. She will be remembered for the love and special times spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Char Lee Baldwin of Granite City and Beverly K. Partney of Granite City; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Skip" and Brenda Parmley of Pontoon Beach; five grandchildren and their spouses, Deborah and Scott Becker, William and Geraldine Baldwin, Kimberly Baldwin, Daniel J. and Andrea Partney II and Brandon and Melanie Houser; nine great grandchildren; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and may be accepted at the funeral home.
