David Ahlstrom was born in lowa on April 9, 1887, and died near his home north of this place Wednesday, November 5, 1913, at the age of 26 years, 6 months and 27 days.
Yesterday morning the news of the sudden death of David Ahlstrom of the North Divide was brought to town by Arvid Jurberg, a neighbor of the deceased, who came in to notify the coroner at Kimball, and also to telegraph the sad news to relatives of the young man.
From appearances at the scene of the accident David Ahlstrom met his death by a horse, which he was riding falling on him, crushing out his life instantly.
The story as told by Mr. Jurberg is to the effect that the evening before David went from the home place to his own place, three miles distant. Wednesday morning his folks talked to him over the phone, but later in the day could not get him over the phone line. When he failed to reach home in the evening his brother Joe went to look for him. He first found the horse running loose with the saddle on. Later he discovered the dead body of his brother laying stretched out on the ground about a mile distant from the deceased's house. Joe went to the home of Arvid Jurberg, that being the nearest place he could get help, and notified Mr. Jurberg of the accident.
David Ahlstrom came to this neighborhood from lowa, with his parents, in 1888, and the North Divide has been his home ever since. He was well liked by all who knew him.
