Ford, Dorothy Fern (Warner), 80, of East Springfield, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 after a brief illness surrounded by her family.
She was born June 15, 1930, in Onego, W.Va., to the late Stephen and Bertha (Arbogast) Warner.
Dorothy was a homemaker, avid gardener and long-time member of the Family Campers and RVers, an organization in which she served as district field director for many years. She belonged to the East Springfield Night Owls, and Buckeye Rover Retirees camping chapters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Lawrence Ford, her loving husband of 48 years, whom she married December 14, 1951; brother, Forrest Warner; brother, Bennie Warner, who was killed in the Korean War; sister Leona Hood; two brothers who died in infancy; and grandson, Andrew Ford.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by daughters, Marilyn (Larry) Brigner, and Amy Ford, both of Columbus; son, Mervin (Laura) Ford of Tonto Basin, Ariz.; grandchildren, Amanda Brigner, Benjamin Ford, William Ford and Ashley Ford; great-granddaughter, Jayla Lewis; siblings, Shirley (John) Ziklo of East Springfield, Boyd (Mary) Warner of Cleveland, Lee (Sue) Warner of Robertsville; and Carol Peters of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 pm. at Sweeney- Doods Funeral Home, 207 South Main St., Amsterdam, OH. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Josh Conley officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Richmond.
