OBITUARY - The Journal, North Manchester (IN) - May 1, 1890
The remains of Albert G. Beauchamp, a former well-known resident of this place were brought here last Friday for burial. He died at Carrollton, Missouri, at an early hour on last Wednesday. Funeral services were held there and a short service was conducted here at the house of Jacob Harter by Rev. M. S. Narble before burial.
The deceased was about 44 years old. He was born at Pittsburg, Indiana in which neighborhood he spent the greater part of his youth. He enlisted in the service of his country early in the late war and was a soldier for over three years. After the war, Mr. Beauchamp began railroading and held many positions on various roads in this country.
He came to North Manchester shortly after the completion of the Eel River railroad and had held the office of that company and its successors for over ten years and won the confidence and friendship of all who knew him. Since leaving here he has been at various places but for the past three years has had charge of the Wabash Railway at Carrollton.
He married Miss Nettie Cowgill of Wabash, who with two children survive him. Of late years Mr. Beauchamp has been in poor health, but he continued at hard work until the beginning of his last sickness in December 1889. Physicians differ as to the exact cause of his death but it is thought to have been an abscess on his liver.
The deceased has many warm personal friends in this place to whom the unexpected announcement of his death was a severe shock. He was a pleasant, kind-hearted and honorable man and the world is better off for his having lived in it.
Nettie Beauchamp received a widows pension from 45th Illinois Co B.
