He was the son Andrew Morrison (11 Dec 1811-30 Mar 1874) and Mary Myers Morrison.
He enlisted with Company F, 8th Iowa Cavalry, on 24 Jun 1863 from his home in Moravia, Appanoose County, Iowa.
He was taken prisoner on 30 Jul 1864 at Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia and paroled on 17 Dec 1864 at Annapolis, Maryland.
He was discharged on 9 Jun 1865 at Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.
On 19 Feb 1859 he married Harriet S. Boyles (11 Feb 1844-).
He was a hardware dealer at Unionville, Appanoose County, Iowa.
They were members of the Presbyterian Church and A.F. & A.M at Centerville, IA.
He filed a claim for an invalid pension (#486286) on 8 Jun 1883. Harriet Morrison filed a claim for a widow's pension (#939639) on 7 Apr 1910. He was the brother of Lt. John B. Morrison, also of Company F.

C. W. Morrison Died Suddenly, Unionville Postmaster and Pioneer Business Man Died of Heart Failure Today.
C. W. Morrison, postmaster at Unionville, died of heart failure about 10 o'clock this morning. He was taken sick about two o'clock in the night, and his death resulted a few hours later.
Mr. Morrison was a pioneer resident of Unionville, had been in the mercantile business there for years, in which he had made a success. He was an old soldier.
He leaves his wife and three children,(Mary) LaRue, (Eugene) Gene, and John, all at home. The funeral will be at 4 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church of which he was a member, conducted by the pastor and the G.A.R.

Union Postmaster Dead
Word received this morning from Unionville telling of the death of Postmaster C. W. Morrison was very unexpected and was a sad message to many friends in Centerville.
Mr. Morrison was an old resident of Appanoose County and had served as postmaster for many years at Unionville where he was held in high esteem. He was a soldier.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock with burial at Unionville Cemetery.
Mr. Morrison had not been in the best of health, but had not been very ill until about 2 o'clock this morning when he was stricken with heart trouble resulting in his death at 10:00 o'clock.
His age was 72, and he is survived by his wife and three children, also brothers and sisters who live elsewhere.
