Larry S. Nagy, 72, of Monongahela, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 8, 2007.
He was born November 7, 1934, in Monongahela, a son of Stephen and Evelyn Lorenzi Nagy.
Mr. Nagy was a 1952 Monongahela High School graduate, where he played baseball and basketball.
He received his master's degree in education from California State Teachers College.
From 1969 until his retirement in 1998, he taught math in West Jefferson Hills School District.
For more than 10 years, he coached girls basketball and boys baseball at Thomas Jefferson High School. He also coached Pony League in Monongahela and Little League in Carroll Township for 10 years.
He was a member of Transfiguration Church in Monongahela, where he and his wife were active on the marriage prep team.
Mr. Nagy had a passion for traveling, especially with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Aquilla Tignanelli Nagy, with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage on November 19, 2006; a son, Robert Nagy, at home; three brothers-in-law, Andrew Tignanelli and wife Yvonne of Finleyville, Joe Tignanelli and wife Sherry of Elizabeth and Frank Tignanelli and wife Phyllis of Bunola; two sisters-in law, Gerry Mazza and husband Ralph of Vanderbilt and Susan Russell of Levittown; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in L.M. Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 12, in Transfiguration Church, with the Rev. George Chortos, pastor, as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
