Capt Morgan "Morg, Mod" Morgan
Birth: Dec. 20, 1746
Bunker Hill
Berkeley County
West Virginia, USA
Death: Oct. 31, 1826
Marion County
West Virginia, USA

Mod died at White Day Creek. Marion Co., WV

(In the "Morgan Morgan" namings of this family, Mod would be Morgan Morgan III, but he is also known as "Justice Morgan Morgan".)

Served under Capt. Zackquill Morgan, his uncle, in Lord Dunmore's War.

A Lt. in Capt. Wm. Haymond's Co of VA Militia at Prickett's Fort, from 15 April - 12 June 1777.
Rev. # S31265 He later was a Captain.

Morgan is listed in the records of Morgan Chapel, as David's oldest son.

In 1773, when he was 27 years old, his father moved to the Monongahela Valley. Morgan made the trek with his wife, Drusilla Prickett, and his young son Achilles.

He served Monongalia county as a Justice of the Peace, up until 17 Aug 1815.

Morgan's will lists thirteen children; but his daughter Elizabeth says there was a daughter named Cynthia, bringing it up to fourteen.

He died at age 83.
At the time of his death, he was living on White Day creek, near Catawaba. He is buried at old Harperstown Cem., near White Day Creek.

He was a slave owner. He desired that his female slaves be emancipated at the age of 24; males at the age of 33. From his will, he seems to have owned at least 5. (At the time the will was written, it was 2 adult Females; Elizabeth, and Delila, who had 3 infants between them.)

His will is given on pp 118-120 of French Morgan's book.
The will itself, is recorded in Will book 1, page 45, at Morgantown, WV.
