Son of George and Rachael Smith McGarrah

A group of men from Collin Co, TX went to Senora, Tuolumne Co, CA in 1850 or 1851. GW Ford, George's stepson, Jack, George's brother and Tola Dunn, Jack's son in law were part of the group.

The Indian Wars of 1850/51 Mariposa, CA
James McGarrah was a member of the Mariposa Batallion Company B (Probably son of George).

A large number of the Battalion were from TX and former Texas Rangers. This Battalion, led by Capt. John Bolin accidentally discovered the Yosemite Valley.

James continued his life in CA as a Gold Miner.
