Dear Aunt Edie, celebrated her 100th birthday on
26th June 2011, with her family at the Paddock House Care Home, Eye, Norfolk. She was the first member of the family to receive a telegram from the Queen, to mark the occassion. She believed that her long life was down to "always being happy and smiling"
Sadly after a fall on Wednesday 10th August 2011, she was admitted to the Norwich Hospital, where she died peacefully just after 8.10am on Saturday 13th August 2011.
Born in Dickleburgh Norfolk on 26th June 1911, she was the second of nine children, and eldest daughter of
William Musk (1884 - 1959) & Florence Potter (1888 - 1974) and sister to my dear Mother.
She married her childhood sweetheart Bob Leader on
7th November 1936, setting up home in Lowgate Street, Eye, Norfolk, where they enjoyed a happy life together, until Bob's death in 2001. Sadly they had no children of their own, but were blessed with many nephews & nieces.
As a young child, I remember that they had an allotment, where they grew all their own fruit & vegetables. Edie loved nothing more than to pull a piece of rhubarb, clean it under some water & eat it raw! She was a good cook, having been brought up on her parents farm and cooking along side her Mother. Edie loved nothing more than to be at home making jams and pickles.
Aunt Edie loved to walk or ride her big black bike. She had a black poodle with whom she enjoyed countless hours walking around the lanes near her home.
She and Uncle Bob never smoked or drunk alcohol. But they loved to listen to Norwich City Football Club's games on
BBC Radio Norfolk.
Her funeral will take place at 2.30pm on Wednesday 31st August 2011, at Eye Church. She will then be laid to rest with Bob, in Eye Church Grave Yard.
R.I.P. dearest lady.
