Birth: Jul. 28, 1888
Norfolk, England
Death: Aug. 20, 1974
Suffolk, England

Florence Amelia Potter was born on 28 July 1888,
at Shimpling, Norfolk, England.
She was the daughter of Arthur William Potter (1863-1919) &
Emma Elizabeth Rudd (1864)
Her sibblings were:
Herbert (1885)
& possibly an
Ellen or Nellie Potter (23 May 1891- We have several postcards from Nellie to her "sis" Florence, but have not as of yet been able to link her to the family.)
On 5 October 1907, she married
William Elijah Musk (1884-1959)
and they went on to have 9 children.
George, Edith, William, Leonard, Bertie, Reginald,
Violet, Daisy (my Mother) & Lily.
Whilst William farmed the land at Common Farm, Dickleburgh, Norfolk, Florence ran the home. Making her own butter, baking her own bread, and living off the farms produce. (All 4 of her daughters are brilliant cooks, thanks to her teaching.)
After 18 years on the farm, she retired with William,
to Castle St, Eye, Suffolk.
It was here on the morning of 12 October 1959, that she awoke to find her beloved William, had died in his sleep.
On 4 August 1968, at the Reading Room, Dickleburgh, the family all got together for an 80th birthday party for her. All of her 9 children, their partners, children,(and 3 great grandchildren) attended. It was a very special day, of which I have very fond memeories!
She continued to live at Castle St, until her heath deteriated, & she spent a few months being cared for in a nuring home in Eye.
She died peacefully after a short illness,
on 20 August 1974, in Heath Hospital,
Ipswich, Suffolk, England.
She is buried with William, together, in Dickleburgh Church Graveyard.

I have lots of memories of my Nannie, as whenever she came to visit us, or if I stayed with her at Eye, she would share a room with me. Before we went to sleep each night, she would sing to me...

"Jesus bids us shine
With a pure, clear light,
Like a little candle
Burning in the night.
In this world of darkness
So let us shine
You in your small corner,
And I in mine.

Jesus bids us shine,
First of all for Him;
Well He sees and knows it,
If our light grows dim.
He looks down from Heaven
To see us shine
You in your small corner,
And I in mine.

Jesus bids us shine,
Then, for all around;
Many kinds of darkness
In the world are found
Sin and want and sorrow;
So we must shine
You in your small corner,
And I in mine"

To this day I still have a small framed angel/cherib that she gave me when I was about 10 years old.

Perhaps you aren't ready yet
to have to say goodbye.
Perhaps you've thought of things you wish you'd said.
Well so have I.
For one thing,
I have told you not to worry about me.
I'm with the Lord in Heaven now;
you knew that's where I'd be.
I'm sorry that you're feeling sad,
for I am so happy now…
I've asked the Lord to ease the hurt
and comfort you somehow.
It's hard in the beginning,
but I know you'll make it through.
I hope it helps to know
that I'll be waiting here for you.

How God created mother

God took the fragrance of a flower,
The majesty of a tree,
The gentleness of morning dew,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The beauty of a twilight hour,
The soul of a starry night
The laughter of the rippling brook,
The grace of a bird in flight,
Then God fashioned from these things
A creation like no other,
And when His masterpiece was through,
He called it simply...MOTHER.

I miss UR voice of love & concern, there is no other. It stopped when U left, but I will forever remember, it's etched upon my heart. God needed an Angel, Mother dear, so he called you Home. You reside now with Angels, you're never alone. I look to the St...(Read more)
