Mary Evinger Cronk was the daughter of John Evinger and Jane Yager Evinger. She grew up in IL where, on 8 Aug 1868, she married Henry Cronk .
They arrived in KS around 1869. Their first three babies, Elmer, Viola, and Medora were born there and quickly died. After their fourth child Emma was born, they began the long journey on the Oregon Trail to WA Territory.
Effie was their first child born in the Cowlitz Valley.
By 1887, their family was complete with six children. She and Henry claimed a homestead and were early pioneers in the Kelso area. They later built a large home that overlooked the Cowlitz River.
After Henry died, Mary lived one more year. She passed away at the home of her daughter at the age of 77.
