Jerry Lawson, 66, of DeSoto, passed away June 12, 2005 at his residence following a courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born September 26, 1938 in Laurel, MS.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force, the Postal Service, and as a uniform salesman.

He was a member of Hampton Road Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his parents, Phipps and Edith Mae Lawson and brother, Dale Lawson.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Venne Durham Lawson of DeSoto, children and their spouses, Mickey and Julie Lawson of Little Elm, Mike and Crystal Lawson of Frisco, Sherry Critz of Sweetwater, grandchildren, Carolyn Critz, Jessica Colvin and husband, Ryan, Betsy and Cody Critz, Lianna and Shelby Lawson, Marie and Carter Lawson, sister and brother in law, Dot and Monte Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS., sister, Kathryn "Cookie" and John Moncivais of Laurel MS., stepbrothers and step sisters, Harvey McMinn, Tom McMinn, Dianne Sasser of Laurel, MS., Lynn Cormier of Houston, David Lawson of Chicago, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in the West/Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry R. Raines officiating.

Interment will follow at Dallas/Ft.Worth National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Vitas Hospice.

The family will be present to receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
