Joseph Anthony, son of Frank and Elizabeth Quinn Flanigan, was known as Joe to family and later as Tony. He moved to WA along with his family when he was about three years old.
They lived in Leavenworth on a homestead and sometimes in Malden, where his father worked for the railroad. Around 1922-23, the family moved to Tacoma. His father died when he was 17, and his mother died tragically when he was 20. He, along with his older siblings, helped to support the younger children in the family.
On Dec. 16, 1933, he married Elizabeth Beacraft. Their first child, a daughter, died shortly after her birth. Two sons followed in 1937 and 1938.
Joe worked any job he could find during the late 20's until finally landing a job in 1932 in a furniture factory working as an upholsterer.
Around 1951-52, the family moved to Okanogan WA, where he continued doing upholstry work and soon opened a small grocery store. He and Beth divorced.
On Dec. 5, 1957, in Chelan County, he married Erma Berg Neely.
In the 70's, they moved first to Seattle and then to Freeland in Island County.
Tony lived to the age of 80 years.
