Specialist David H. Ford IV, 20, of Ironton passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, in Baghdad, Iraq.

He was born Sept. 10, 1985, in Norfolk, Va., the son of Violet Adams Ford of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and the late David H. Ford III.

Ford graduated from Ironton High School in 2003. He had been in the U.S. Army since June 2003 and in Iraq since January 2005. He was a member of Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church and had formerly worked at Wendy's.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Hilda Hilgenberg Adams and his paternal grandfather, David H. Ford II.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Kimberly Dawn Ford of Sherman Oaks; a brother, Ray William Ford, who is also in the U.S. Army; a maternal grandfather, Ray Adams of Ironton; a step-grandmother, Betty Adams of Ironton; a paternal grandmother, Evelyn Beaver Ford of Knoxville, Tenn., and his fiancée, Susie Smith of Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Hilgenberg Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home. The body will lie in state an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Military rites will be conducted by U.S. Army, Ft. Knox, Ky.
