Civil War veteran. George Horning was mustered into Co F 1 Pa Light Artillery as a private in Harrisburg, Pa on August 20, 1864. He was transferred from Co F to Co A by Special Order 351 on December 29, 1864. He was discharged by General Order from the War Department on June 13, 1865. Horning was 26 at the time of his enlistment, 5 feet 6 inches tall, had brown hair, a light complexion and blue yes. He resided in Dauphin County, Pa and worked as a laborer.
