Maurice Ronello Voter
RUMFORD -- Maurice Ronello Voter, 56, of Hancock Street, Rumford, died on July 16, 2005 at his home after a courageous three-month battle with colon and liver cancer.
He was born in Rumford, Nov. 7, 1948, the second child of Colin and Annie Knox Voter. He graduated from Stephens High School in 1967.
An air force veteran, he served as a military police officer from 1967-1971 in Italy where he met and married his wife, Alba Leongito.
Moe worked as a police officer for the town of Dixfield in 1971-72 returning to Italy until 1986 when he returned to the states. He took residence in San Antonio, TX and in 1990 returned to Rumford where he worked at Ames Department Store, Thurston's Mill, and up until his illness, Formed Fiber Technologies.
He was a member of Swasey Torrey Post #100 of Dixfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, time spent with his boys and their wives, and especially his two grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Alba of Rumford, whom he married in Naples, Italy on Aug. 6, 1970; three sons, Colin and his wife, Christie of Bangor, Salvatore and his wife, Jennifer of Pennsylvania, and Norman and his wife, Jessica of Gray; the joys of his life - his two grandsons, Colin McDonald of Peru and Thomas Townley of Bangor; five brothers, Norman Voter and his companion, Brenda of Rumford, Charlie Voter and his wife, Paula of Mexico, Dexter Voter and his wife, Patricia of Dover-Foxcroft, Colin Voter and his wife, Kathleen of Peru, and Merwin Voter and his wife, Kathy of Mexico; one sister, Charlene Wing and her husband, Archie of Peru; two sister-in-laws, Ada Ferrandes and Laura Riccio, and a brother-in-law, Rosario Leongito, all of Naples, Italy; three sister-in-laws, Judy Voter, Nancy Laughton, and Rebecca Powell; many nieces and nephews of Maine and Italy.
He was predeceased by his parents, Colin Voter on July 24, 1965 and Annie on March 6, 2000; his father-in-law, Salvatore Leongito; and mother-in-law, Anna of Naples, Italy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld St., Dixfield. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. where members of Swasey-Torrey American Legion Post will meet at 6:30. Interment will be at Demerritt Cemetery, Peru.
Following the interment, there will be a luncheon served at the Swasey-Torrey American Legion Post in Dixfield, please park in the rear of the building. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Maurice Voter Benefit Dinner and Chinese Auction that will be held on July 31 from 3-7pm at the Swasey-Torrey American Legion Hall in Dixfield.
