R. A. Kidwell, age 83 years, died at his home in this city Saturday evening at 7 o'clock. Mr. Kidwell was born in Clark County, Illinois and moved to the Newberry community in this county with his parents about the 1857. He had since lived continuously in the same community until he came to Weatherford last September. During the War Between the States, Mr. Kidwell served three years in the Confederate Army. In 1875 he was married to Miss Lucy Jones and of this union the following six sons and daughters are living: M. M. Kidwell, Lubbock, Texas; D. W. Kidwell, Greer Co., Oklahoma; Mrs. V. B Witherspoon, Wichita Falls; M. D. Kidwell, Tarrant County; Mrs. J. W. Keith, Weatherford; W. D. Kidwell, Greer Co., Oklahoma. He is also survived by his wife, who lives in this city. Mr. Kidwell was a Christian and was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Scott of Tarrant county Sunday afternoon. Burial took place in City, Oakland cemetery.
