Gladis Levone McColloch Russell
Birth: Feb. 6, 1926
Logan County
Ohio, USA
Death: 2011, USA

Gladis Levone McColloch Russell, 85, of rural Bellefontaine, passed away unexpectedly.

Gladis was born in Logan County on Feb. 6, 1926, to the late John and Jennie Baker McColloch.

Gladis graduated from East Liberty High School in 1944 and started her office working career at Ranco in Columbus.

Gladis was married to John Richard "Dick" Russell in West Mansfield on Sept. 30, 1950, by the Rev. Frank Roberts and started their life together in Logan County.

Through the years, Gladis enjoyed her various jobs and she also served 32 years as payroll supervisor at Rockwell International in Bellefontaine and was one of the last employees to walk out the door as it was locked for the final time. Following that, she worked part time managing the apartments at Point Village Ltd. in Russells Point and also at the Lewistown Post Office.

When farming season came around, both she and Dick hit the fields after an eight-hour shift. Together they operated a farm in rural Logan County, where they raised prize Hereford cattle.

Mrs. Russell was very active in the Lions Club and was serving as secretary for the Bellefontaine chapter. She and her husband, Lion Dick were both currently serving on the Bellefontaine Lions Club Eye Glass Committee. A member of the Church of Christ, East Liberty, she was also a member of the Bellefontaine Fish & Game Association and other community activities.

Gladis always had the attitude she could do anything and encouraged others they could, too. For relaxing, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, hooking rugs, embroidering, working in their flower beds and preparing food for the winter from their large garden that she and Dick both enjoyed working in together.

She is survived by her two sisters; Ruby (Charles) Montgomery of East Liberty and Blanche Watkins of Marysville; nieces and nephews, Richard Johnson and Bruce (Karen) Johnson, both of Raymond, Ronald (Betty Thornton) Johnson of West Mansfield, Deborah (David) Nicol of Marysville, Catheryn Whitmore (Jim Smith) of Lakeview, Robert (Sandy Wilcox) McColloch Jr., John (Cindy) McColloch and Keith (Virginia) Montgomery, all of East Liberty, Nancy (Dan) Pry of Westerville, John (Marilyn) Coles of Lorain and Monna Coles of Athens, New York; and numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews and also many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robert (Beulah) McColloch; a sister, Betty Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Harold Johnson and Forrest "Shade" Watkins.

Pastor Jack Knox leads a memorial service for the Russells at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, in the First Church of God, 1000 E. Brown Ave., Bellefontaine. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, followed by a Lions Club memorial service. A private committal service is in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellefontaine Lions Club Pilot Dog Program, c/o Andy Collings, 615 E. Columbus Ave., Bellefontaine; and to the Logan County Fish and Game, 2056 N. U.S. Route 68, Bellefontaine,OH 43311
