Obituary
John A. Hubbard
John A. Hubbard was born at Constable, Franklin County, New York, Sept. 14, 1847, and passed away at his home in this city early Sunday morning, April 1, being 75 years 6 months and 17 days.
He was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Annette at Spencer, Ia., Feb 6, 1873. Two children were born to this union, Jessie M., and Edwin J. Hubbard, both deceased.
The family moved to Grants Pass, in 1887, where they have lived a greater part of the time.
Mr. Hubbard was a member of the Methodist church where he faithfully attended as long as his health permitted.
He was a contractor and carpenter having built the Methodist church, and with M. C. H. Day built the Masonic Temple, First National Bank and various other building in this city.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. On March 4, 1922, Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard went to live at the Masonic home at Forest Grove, Ore., but owing to Mrs. Hubbard's mental condition they were unable to stay longer than three months. Mrs. Hubbard passed away at her home in this city, January 13, 1923.
Mr. Hubbard has been a sufferer for more than a year, and has been confined to his bed the last two months.
He leaves five brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren, Mrs. Albert W. Paddock of Portland, Ore., and Hubbard Day of this city to mourn his loss.

Cause of death: Cancer at internal canthus of left eye. Secondary cause: Old age.
Burial was April 23, 1923.
