Following an illness of six weeks duration, Mrs. Dorothy Smith, 72 [sic 71] years old, died at her daughter's home, Mrs. C. O. Holland, Saturday night, June 7.
Mrs. Smith has lived in Atlanta and adjoining towns for a number of years and has made many friends by her pleasing personality and has inspired many of the younger set as well as those of mature years.
She was a member of the Methodist Protestant Church and took an active part until her health failed.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. P. M. Caraway at Summerfield near Colfax at 3:30 Monday afternoon. Mrs. Smith was the mother of ten children, eight of whom survive. They are: Frank Smith of Alexandria, Grady and Bryant of Houston, Texas, Luther Smith, West Carroll Parish, Max [sic Mapp] Smith, Verda, Mrs. Ed Bufkins [sic Bufkin], Elizabeth, Mrs. C. O. Holland and Mrs. K. A. Thomas, Atlanta.
Besides her children she leaves brothers and sisters and quite a number of grandchildren and friends to mourn her loss.
