Clarence Reuschlein was born May 2, 1904, at Plain, Wisconsin, the son of William and Rose Reuschlein. He grew up and attended school in Plain. In 1927, he moved to Ethan, South Dakota and started the first hard cheese factory in the state. He married Mildred Stopfer January 27, 1932, at Ethan.
Clarence sold the cheese factory to his partner and moved to Mitchell to own and operate the Mitchel Dairy. The couple later moved to Dell Rapids to operate the Dell Rapids Co-op Creamery. He then owned and operated businesses in Larchwood, Iowa, and Sioux Falls for many years. In 1954, he returned to Dell Rapids to manage the Dell Rapids Co-op Dairy, retiring in 1966.
Clarence as a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1928.
Clarence died Tuesday, March 21, 1995, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 90.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Mildred; two sons, Bill and his wife, Judy, Aberdeen and Dave and his wife, Sue, Lenexa, KS; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Rose Marie) Olson, Duluth, MN, and Mrs. Terry (Alice) Hansen, Dell Rapids; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Herbert, Milwaukee, WI; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Nachreiner, Sauk City, IW, and Mrs. Van Haag, Plain, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
