Eldon Arnold, 81, of Dell Rapids, died on Wednesday, May 1, at the Dell Rapids Hospital.

He was born on April 19, 1904, at Hazel, S.D., to Edward and Flora Arnold. He graduate form Hazel High School. He attended college at LeMars, Iowa, later transferring to UND where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in music, also graduating from McPhail School of Music. He married Reva Marquette on June 21, 1939, at Milbank, S.D. He was director of vocal and instrumental music and also band director for several high schools in South Dakota. He was an instructor at the Sioux Falls Air Base during WWII. In 1942 they moved to Dell Rapids where they owned and operated the Dell Rapids Floral Shop and Dells Apparel. He served on various committees and was choir director. He as a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 40 AF and AM in Dell Rapids, a 32 year Mason, member of the Consistory and El Riad Shrine in Sioux Falls. He was also a member of the Minnehaha Mandskor Choral group, Gavellis High 12 and at the present time was district master of District IV Grand Lodge.

Survivors are his wife, Reva; a son, Dr. Dean E. of Cambridge, England; two granddaughters: Michelle Renne and Andrea Celeste; one brother, ? of Watertown; two sisters: Mrs. Wright of Salina, Kan., and Mrs. Fred (Pearl) Messener of Waterloo, Iowa.

Services were held on Saturday, May 4, at the Baptist Church in Dell Rapids with Rev. David Heintzleman officiating. A Masonic service was held at the Dell Rapids Cemetery.

The organist was Madeline Lerdal and the soloist was Donna Heintzleman.

Active Casketbearers were Dr. Robert Arnold, Ronald Arnold, Dennis Arnold, Earl Arnold, Mark Arnold and Calvin Greening. Honorary Casketbearers were William Guild, Oscar Emly, Merle Wicks, Howard Hoyme, Titus Unger, Ernest Merry, Robert DeVaney Sr. and Vic Graham.

Kahler Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
