William E. Parker, 68 years old, died in his sleep Wednesday night, July 21, at his room in a Sioux Falls hotel.
Mr. Parker was a pioneer of Dell Rapids and for years conducted a drug store here where the Dells Cafe is now located. He sold this store in 1922 to B.W. Clapper. He then moved to Sioux Falls where he operated the Nelson drug store on South Phillips Avenue, near the Fox studio for some time and later affiliated with the Central drug store, which he left in 1930. For the past two years he had been employed at the hotel where he died.
Mr. Parker had been in poor health for the past four or five months, but was around as usual the day he died. He was born at Conover, Iowa, January 24, 1869. He joined the Dell Rapids lodge, No. 40, A.F. & A.M., on May 8, 1893.
In the year of 1893, Mr. Parker then of Sioux City, Iowa, was married to Flora B. Sibbison of Dell Rapids. Mrs. Parker died on March 16, 1935.
The only survivor is a sister, Mrs. Maude Sheridan, who lives at Marshalltown, Iowa.
Interment took place in the family lot in the Dell Rapids Cemetery on Monday afternoon, following a funeral service held in Sioux Falls. Druggists of Sioux Falls served as pallbearers.
