Bill attended Minert School and graduated from Postville (Iowa) High School in 1939. He met Esther while attending Iowa State College in Ames. His college career was interupted by service in the US Navy during World War II, during which time he served in the Pacific. He completed his degree in 1947 and he and Esther headed for California. The Kenneys then taught in northern California until moving back to Iowa in 1952, where he taught at Mar-Mac in McGregor, Iowa from 1952-1956 and at Edgewood (later Ed-Co) in Edgewood, Iowa, from 1956 until his retirement in 1983.
He moved to Lincolnwood Assisted Living in May 2006 and to the Edgewood Convalescent Home in January 2011, where he died.
