Married 09/13/1885 in Union Co., AR to Daniel Webster "Dan" Rogers.

Their issue:

1. Littleton Daniel "Lit" Rogers
2. Northen Crawford "Coot" Rogers
3. Coleman Younger "Cole" Rogers
4. Nellie Estelle Rogers
5. Dovie Sue Rogers
6. Brinon Lawrence Rogers
7. Gladys Marie Rogers
8. Lillie Belle Rogers

Born near El Dorado.

She died almost a week before her 94th birthday.

Viola spent most of her life after her children were born in the Pineville Insane Asylum in Pineville, LA (now the Central Louisiana State Hospital), from about 1908 until her death in 1961.

Apparently the death of some of her children at a young age contributed to her instability. Her mother was a morphine addict who died when Viola was young.
Viola outlived everyone in her generation & several of her grandchildren.

Surviving Viola were two children, Northen Crawford Rogers & Lillie Rogers Smith; 6 grandchildren, George Edward Rogers, Gerald Lee Rogers, Nellie Rogers Pittman, Reecy Delson Smith, Monte Belle Smith Cates & Mary Lee Rogers Evers; and about 12 great-grandchildren. I'm not sure but she may have had a great-great grandchild or two.

After repeated correspondence with officials at the hospital & the state level, her patient records were destroyed. This is very sad, as much valuable information would have been gleaned from those records.

She has a memorial marker (cenotaph) in the D. W. Rogers Family Plot in Pate Cemetery, just west of El Dorado, AR. The photo of the stone is on the right.

She also has a memorial marker in the CLSH Cemetery, although her grave itself is unmarked. The hospital cemetery records list her as Patient I.D.# 162, Viola Rodgers, died Jan. 2, 1961.

Both stones were placed by a daughter of Lillie Rogers Smith.
