DAVIS, Joseph William "Bill", of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Bill was born in Mine Run, Virginia, where he lived until entering the United States Air Force. After serving two enlistments during the Vietnam War, he continued government service as a federal employee at the Air Force Data Systems Design Center at Gunter Air Force Base.
Bill was a Troy University graduate who later was selected to attend the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, during which time he received his Master's Degree.
After 40 years of federal service, Bill retired from the government, and accepted a position with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)in Columbia, Maryland. After 6 years, he and the family knew they wanted to return to their home in Montgomery.
Bill loved his family, golf and life. He was a humble, personable, good man who will be profoundly missed by his wife of 42 years, Lani and by their two daughters, Julie Khamken and Laura Vansyoc, their husbands, and granddaughter, Emma Khamken. Bill also leaves behind his two brothers, James Bryan Davis, Jr., and Clyde Elliott Davis, of Virginia, as well as many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, with Chaplain Lt. Col (Retired) Terese Erickson officiating. A private family graveside will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
