Mr. Ash came to this city in the fifties and went into the grocery business with Charles Hall. Later he went into business with N. B. and R. F. Paige. In 1861 he went into the army. He was In the Second Wisconsin, Col. Bouck's regiment. He received severe wounds during the war. In fact bis wounds have troubled him ever since the war. When he returned, he went into business again with R. F. Paige, In 1882 he was elected city treasurer and he held the office four years. Five years ago, he removed to Chicago. He has been in feeble health of late years, on occount of the wounds he received In the war.
He married an adopted daughter of H. B. Lawrence. He leaves no children.
His remains will reach the city Sunday morning. - They will be taken to Masonic hall where they will remain until the funeral which will probably, be held Monday.
